St Paul's Primary School – Sunshine West
This new vibrant purpose built Learning Facility replaces the dated aging portables that supported the school’s strong Arts programme. The new building provides for a designated Arts provision to the ground floor consisting – an Art’s Studio connected to a double height under covered north facing outdoor space to extend the studio experience. The adjacent space is a large dynamic multi-purpose performance space interconnected with the studio arts provision and provides access to the large extended under croft of the building through large format glazed sliding doors.
The upper floor provides for a flexible and agile senior students learning hub consisting of 3 general purpose classrooms all interconnected to a large multi functional special project space, external undercover terrace areas, smaller break-out rooms and toilet amenities.
Large format glazed sliding doors enables the first floor to be opened up or closed down for a variety of configurations and increase floor space to accommodate a multitude of large gatherings such as cohort assembly, parents information, examination space, exhibition space, etc
Externally the building is nestled between the large gymnasium (shared with Marion Secondary College) and the existing 2 storey learning facility, the bright red ribbon creates a dominant form to the north and south elevations highlighting the external staircase and bookends the building to the large play spaces either side.
